attempting to keep my bankroll

Postby awdtalon21 on Mon Jul 26, 2010 1:27 am

Ok im going to be playing .10/NL, i will post weekly updates every Saturday. Im staring with 60$ on fulltilt.

My main goal, not to lose all my bankroll by moving up the stakes to high, without the proper bankroll.

Week 1 +23$

Just a suggestion but shouldnt you start at maybe 5NL or even lower considering you only have 6 buy ins for 10NL.... Its usually recommended you have 20 BI for the limit you want to play.

I see... Do you always short stack games? Do you feel uncomfortable playing with 100bb at 5NL? If short stacking is your strategy then I can see it as an ok thing to do, but I do think that its more +EV to play with 100bb if you have an edge over your opponents.

Good luck and keep the blog updated

20 buyins is not enough of a bankroll when you're short stacking. The swings are larger than if you were playing .02/.04, as you would expect. I would suggest if you're serious about keeping your bankroll that you move down, otherwise even if you're a decently winning player you run the risk of variance taking you out!

Good luck nonetheless, and post some hands as MrPadawan says :)

Man the first hand you miss out on so much value! Bet!! Bet turn!! Yeah might might fold sometimes but that's life, he can't always have a hand that will call 3 streets, but it's wayyy better to bet 3 streets to maximise value the time he does have a hand instaed of trying to get 1 street of value every time.

Hand 2 is a beat but I would raise to .40 or .50 pre

hand 1 - 3bet pre, bet that flop, he would raise you with his set and you'd get the money in as a 95% favorite... oh well you got sucked out on but at least you get maximum value the times he doesnt...

As played WTF stop looking at your hand and thinking I have a monster... that flop hits enough of his raising range these players are bad... If he is calling you he is calling period... just bet for value and you get called by so many hands AT, KQ, QJ, JJ, AK, KJ, and I might be missing some... but the main reason is HE IS NOT AGGRESSIVE!!!, ARE WE REALLY CHECKING HOPING SOMEONE WITH A 1 AF IS GOING TO BLUFF!!!!

ok moving on
Hand 2 - raise to .40-.50 pre like badger suggested... and besides that totally standard.. All we can do is get our money in ahead... the rest is up to the cards... and just so you should only win that hand 2/3 times.. seems crappy but your equity is 66%, I dont think people realize just how much losing 1/3 of the time sucks...

This is why myself and EVERY instructor on this site is adamant about BR management... I play with a 50-100 BI rule but I play PLO... most NLH players should play with 20-30 BI IMO...

Good luck, and Im sure there are some hands that you have leaked money on or been stumped that might help us improve your game as opposed to coolers
